Janet and Duane Gigeous, the mother and stepfather of Nick Adenhart, were in Cedar Rapids on Sunday to donate $5,000 to the Kernels Foundation from the Nick Adenhart Memorial Fund.

Adenhart, of course, was the former Cedar Rapids Kernels pitcher who was killed in an automobile accident last April shortly after he pitched in a game for the Los Angeles Angels.

Here is video of the pregame ceremony in which the the money was donated. The master of ceremonies was Kernels President Gary Keoppel.

Following the game, the Gigeouses – who live in Algonquin, Ill. – had a picture taken with the Kernels team by a memorial portrait of Adenhart that adorns a spot on the left-center-field fence at Memorial Stadium.
