Police say a convenience store clerk and a suspect were injured in a holdup in Des Moines.
Police say three clerks tried to stop the robber, who was armed with a knife, from leaving the store early Wednesday.
A fight broke out, and one clerk, Ryan Hygdon, suffered cuts on his arm and treated at the scene.
Police say another clerk, Troy Herriott, pulled out his own knife and stabbed the robber in the stomach. The robber fled. Police followed a trail of blood to an apartment. He jumped out of a second-story window and was taken into custody.
The suspect, Anthony Welch, of Ankeny, was taken to a hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition. He faces charges of first-degree robbery, willful injury and resisting arrest.
