Gase signs developmental deal

Cedar Rapids driver Joey Gase has been signed by SS Green Light Racing led by Butch Miller to a multi-series developmental program for the 2010 season, the group announced Monday. The 16-year-old became the youngest Late Model Series points champion at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this last summer.

Gase, a junior at Xavier High School, is a third-generation driver. According to a news release, Gase will race in Pro All Star Series, ASA Challenge Series and he will be entered in two Camping World East Series events. His opening race will be Saturday at the PASS Winterfest Super Late Model at the New Smyrna (Fla.) Raceway.
Gase will will assist in testing SS Green Light racing's NASCAR Camping World trucks. This will lead to a very limited scheduled at Hawkeye Downs in 2010, returning for some races on free weekends, according to SS Green Light racing. Read the
