Here are the last two plays of the Iowa-Northern Iowa football game. One shows the first blocked field-goal attempt. The other shows the secondd blocked kick. Both were taken from the sideline.
AWESOME! Unbelievable finish to a great game! You have to give the UNI Panthers credit, they fought hard, and their team looks well balanced. They had the Hawks on their heals the whole game. Cyclones next week, should be a good one.
Since it was not 4th down when UNI kicked, when they recovered the football, they retained possession. Since the ball never went past the line of scrimmage, the clock was stopped when the play was dead.
What was the line of scrimmage?
In the first attempt video it looked like the ball hit between the 22 and 23 yrd line
Should Iowa have recovered it instead of just letting it go?
It was a 40-yd FG attempt so that would put the ball on the 23. It's hard to tell from the first video if it crossed the line of scrimmage or not.
Had Iowa recovered the first blocked kick, the game would have been over. But, players are usually taught not to pick up a blocked kick. But I suspect that's more because most FGs are attempted on 4th down.
Undoubtfully cool blog you got here. It would be great to read a bit more about that matter. Thanks for giving that information.
What do you think about adding some more images? No offence, text is really great. But as I know visitors acquire information much more effective if there are some helpful pics.
Really nice article to read it as for me. The only question I have, why don’t you add it to social bookmarks? That may bring much traffic to this blog.
Very nice information.
