Paint it or keg it, maybe?

Iowa's plain, white water tower continues to move the fans.

First from Waterloo's Justin Scott, the man who brought you Solon Beef Days here.

I have to confess, this is my favorite water tower.

And here's another pretty good one from e-mailer Steve. You might want to wear a raincoat because you will get wet, kind of like a Gallagher act.

And this from e-mailer Paul Forbes, who's tried this "paint the water tower" thing once before:

"Could have used your help last year when I was trying to get Gary to paint the tower. I did get some help from KGAN Sports, (Gazette columnist) Jennifer Hemmingsen and (Press-Citizen) Brian Morelli.

This petition is a great idea, but you need to stay on top of it, or it will go away for another year.

Keep the idea alive. Keep pushing Gary. The University owns the tower . . . they can do this, they just need a little prodding. If you remember the Penn State game, there were some great shots of the water tower. I  tried to convince Gary that would be some great national exposure for the football program. Every decision made has its detractors.

They will never get everyone on board with the decision, but it would be a great thing for the football program. And in the tough times all universities seem to have with athletics, Iowa needs to do everything it can, no matter how small it may seem.

I think about the football players down in the tunnel, ready to hit the field. What will they see coming out? The Hawk logo...  symbol of pride.

Don't let this die, Marc... because it will. Keep the petition alive, and stay in contact with Gary."
