arrestwarrantsThis database contains more than 4,500 outstanding arrest warrants for people wanted by the Linn and Johnson County sheriff’s offices, and the University of Iowa Police Department, which were added to the database Oct. 1, 2007.

The oldest warrants date back to 1965 and include warrants for everything from parking violations, missed court appearances to felony theft and sexual-abuse charges.

Anyone with information about a person appearing in the database should not confront that person on their own, but should contact the Linn or Johnson County sheriff’s offices.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at (319) 892-6100 and information can be e-mailed to sheriff.warrants@linncounty.org.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at (319) 356-6020 and information can be e-mailed to warrants@co.johnson.ia.us.

Purpose: This information has been provided to The Gazette to aid law enforcement in the service of outstanding or unserved arrest warrants.

Presumption: This information merely reflects the existence of an arrest warrant at a certain point in time. It is important to remember that a warrant is only an accusation, and that the named person is presumed innocent until such time, if ever, that he or she is convicted of an offense.

Disclaimer: This information is a reflection of the provider’s records at the time they were provided. Publication of these records neither implies nor guarantees that they are either accurate or current.

Using the Database: The database is searchable by name, last known address, city, state and department holding a warrant. To see the complete list of arrest warrants, simply click search without filling in any of the fields. Some names may appear more than once under different addresses for the same charge.

The database will be updated with new arrest warrants every three months. All warrants appearing in the database are at least 30 days old. Warrants from Johnson County are at least 60 days old.

The database is currently showing Linn County arrest warrants issued through Jan. 1, 2009, and Johnson County warrants issued through April 1, 2009. All warrants held by the University of Iowa Police Department are included. The names of those arrested or whose warrants are recalled by court order will be removed from the database on a weekly basis following notification by the Linn and Johnson County sheriff’s offices.

Outstanding arrest warrants
  1. The CRPD does not investigate or question the party who is accused of a crime. they are told you will get your day in court. but you still have to go to jail.

  2. Is there anyone out there who has been arrested for false accusations by another? or innocently put in Jail?? does anyone read these? any comments about CRPD not investigating an issue? anyone know anything about TORT LAW?

  3. Anyone who does not believe you can not be arrested falsely is living in a dream world. Make someone mad, snap, you end up in jail and it is your responsibility to prove your innocence. In this great country of ours now, you are guilty until proven innocent. And, if you do prove your innocent, the general public still convicts you. Sad.

    • THEY DID aresst me falsely! i did not get a chance to prove innocence! i have plenty of proof!my point is; The CRPD should have got proof that there WAS probable cause! i innocently went to jail. case was dismissed, but now on my record! i had a totally clean record! CRPD & Coubty attorney, need to investigate before someone goes to jail!!!!!

      • I know someone who was falsely accused but not here. This sort of thing is wide spread and will continue until the immunity clause for the parties involved is revoked.

  4. what is Immunity clause?

    • Prosecutors and mandatory reporters are safe from prosecution, after making false charges.
Prosecutors use this to over charge by adding charges with no evidence to back them, to make a name for themselves and to fullfill their personal ambitions. Others can make false charges for revenge, or to receive federal funds for alleged victims.
Linn County appears to be fairly ethical in avoiding this.

  5. the law is so wrong. Police need to investigate before they issue a warrant! no protecting the innocent. do they know what probable cause is? one persons lies can get someone arrested. SAD!

  6. Parking violations? 1965? I hope those two conditions don't go together. While you should just pay the parking ticket and don't do it again, it would be pretty incredible for area police to still be hunting somebody who failed to bring enough coins for a parking meter way back in the year 1965.

Do warrants get tossed when the statute of limitations runs out, or the person wanted dies?

  7. Pathetic using a media outlet to serve outstanding warrants by getting people to snitch on others. Did we not get told about being tattle tales as kids?

  8. A s ot her po sters h ave sa id, y ou a re N OT inn oce nt un til pro ven guil ty. It's hap pened to me and ot her's I know who have been wr ongf ully ar res ted and not convicted in the end or charges dis mis sed. Those charges ARE still on your record though and you can't make them go away.

  9. As other posters have said, you are NOT in noce nt until pro ven gui lty. It's ha ppe ned to me and other's I know who have been wro ngfu lly arr es ted and not con vict ed in the end or charges dis mis sed. Those cha rges ARE still on your rec ord tho ugh and you can't make them go away.

    • there is no such thing as innocent untill proven guilty. it is you are guilty and good luck proving innocent. yes it is on your record, they just say "you will get your day in court" bu still have to go to jail. and live with it on your record!

  10. Do these departments not have a warrant investigator who does this kind of work, or are they just not doing their job?

  11. They dont do their job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I am not giving up!!!!! Anyone and all who have been wrongfully arrested need to fight together. CRPD and county attorney do not investigate

  13. Is it not possible to sue for false arrest ?? seems that we recall some pretty hefty awards. Seems like we see several" protect the criminal folks " lining up anti law and order here. I'm sure there are lawyers that would take obvious cases for a % fee.

  14. Is It Posible to sue for false arrest? and how? who? where to start? someone gave false info to crpd a warrant was signed, it was dismissed, but i went to Jail. and have to pay Court costs… so unfair, and it is on my record i just want the truth! it is very upsetting for me still

    • Years ago I sued the city in small claims for a false arrest which had been thrown out of court. I won and after some fus*sing CR paid me $980 and some odd dollars. I could have, but did not, sue the arresting officer.

  15. Why should they do their jobs now?? They are to afraid to control the traffic on I380 cause it intimidates them and then sit around and wonder why there are so many accidents so lets waste $100,000 on reflective tape to stick on the bridge and hope that works. The Cedar Rapids Police Dept is run by lazy people that want to sit around and drink coffee all day and eat their "doughnuts"
